Vitamin A is a widely known antioxidant and is also known as retinol. Vitamin A is largely used to promote eye health however, it also promotes healthy hair. It helps produce an oily substance that is secreted by the scalp known as sebum. Sebum prevents hair from drying out and breaking.
Vitamin A can be found in: peaches, spinach, carrots, krill oil, and cod liver oil.
Vitamin E is another widely known antioxidant. Its job is to help neutralize free radicals. Vitamin E increases oxygen uptake which helps your body’s blood circulation. This helps to produce new hair.
Vitamin E can be found in: nuts, leafy greens, soybeans, beans, and wheat germ oil.
We could go on and on about biotin! Biotin is definitely one of the most widely known vitamins used to promote strong, healthy hair. It increases elasticity, prevents breakage, helps to produce keratin (the main component of hair), and protects against dryness.
Biotin can be found in: brown rice, lentils, green peas, oats, brewer’s yeast, and bulgur.
Pantothenic acid (aka Vitamin B5) will work to reduce hair loss due to aging. It also will help strengthen the hair follicles and cells, rid scalp of dead skin, and slow down graying due to aging.
Pantothenic acid can be found in: eggs, and whole grains
