PEPPERMINT OIL

PEPPERMINT OIL

We are all familiar with the wonderful, awakening, minty aroma of peppermint, but did you know that peppermint oil works wonders for your skin and hair? Peppermint is an aromatic herb that has many uses! It contains omega-3 fatty acids, magnesium, calcium, iron, vitamins A and C, potassium, manganese, copper, and other minerals. All of these combine to help your skin and hair look radiant and healthy. It’s also hypoallergenic so no need to worry about having an allergic reaction to this oil.

Peppermint Oil Skin Solutions

Brightens

The menthol in peppermint oil cools skin while working to brighten dull, lifeless skin. This makes the skin brighter and healthy.

Controls Acne

Peppermint oil controls the secretion of excess oil while preventing the clogging of pores. This helps fight acne outbreaks.

Exfoliates

You can make a simple body scrub at home using 1 cup of granulated white sugar, ½ cup of avocado or olive oil, and 8-10 drops of peppermint oil (more or less, depending on personal preference). Mix well and store in an airtight jar. Use this scrub to gently exfoliate while enjoying the relaxing aromas of the peppermint oil.

Clears the Skin

Just like you can use peppermint oil to make a sugar scrub, you can also use it to make a wonderful facial mask that will clear the skin and absorb excess oil. To make, simply combine 2 spoons of grated cucumber and 5ml of diluted peppermint oil. Once combined, add 2 spoons of green clay until a paste forms. Apply the paste as a mask and allow to dry. After it’s dry, wash off with warm water.

Healthy Hair with Peppermint Oil

Balances pH

When applied directly to the scalp, peppermint oil acts as an astringent that will cool the scalp and normalize the sebum secretion. On the other hand, because it balances the pH level of your scalp, it will alleviate any dryness and gets rid of yeast colonies and other germs that cause dandruff without creating additional oil.

Promotes Hair Growth

Peppermint oil penetrates your scalp and also binds to your hair roots. This increases blood flow, stimulates the hair follicles, and promotes excellent blood circulation and oxygen supply. All of these factors create dramatic hair growth!

Moisturizes

Create a moisture wrap for your hair by mixing peppermint oil with another favorite, almond oil. Apply to your hair, place a shower cap on, and then wrap your hair with a warm towel. Allow the oil at least 30 minutes to nourish your hair and moisturize it thoroughly before removing the towel and cap.

With all of the amazing benefits mentioned above, it’s no wonder peppermint oil is used around the world as a skin and hair treatment. Make sure to dilute the peppermint oil before trying any of the techniques mentioned here as it can cause scalp irritation and inflammation if used at full strength.
