Always keep in mind the tone of your business. Is your salon fun, youthful, and high energy? Keep your posts and images in line. Is your salon more of a laid back, classic glam type? Post pictures that convey that “old time glam” feel. You want to make sure that what you post makes your audience respond to you in a positive way. Keep everything within the tone and image you have set for your business. Always ask yourself if you think what you are about to post would be of some value to your clients.   • An easy way to increase engagement is by asking simple questions to your audience or by conducting a poll that requires little reading and fast responses. People will read your post because it will be a fast read and then will most likely give you a response they like to give their opinion. People like to feel heard. Ask a simple question like, “What color are you eager to dye your hair this spring?” You will elicit responses and when you do, make sure to give some type of feedback to those who responded. A business that interacts with their audience is one that people feel compelled to interact with. Make sure your questions/polls are conversation starters, are in line with your business, and are things that your audience will find of interest.
  • Offer giveaways and discounts just for people who like or subscribe to your social media page. Make sure you include special discount codes that are available only to those who are on your page. Another way to do this is to post on social media that you are running a special to those who sign up for your email list. This directs them to a landing page where they will provide you with their contact information and in turn they receive a discount code or an entry into your giveaway. The reason this option is so great is because should something happen to your social media accounts, you still have a way to reach out to those who were interested in what you had to offer. Once someone wins your giveaway, with the winner’s permission, announce who won on your page or post a picture of the winner with the prize.
  • Pictures!!! Pictures and videos are golden on social media! There’s no better industry to post pictures than the beauty industry. With salons, before and after pictures are priceless.
