MAKE SOCIAL MEDIA WORK FOR YOU!

MAKE SOCIAL MEDIA WORK FOR YOU!

Whether you are a salon owner or a salon professional, one thing is for sure: you MUST be on social media to promote your business and services! Social media is the perfect platform for you to talk directly to your potential and existing clients, so USE IT! Not only that, but you can also spread awareness about services you offer, promote specials, let people know of last minute openings, and create brand loyalty. See why social media marketing gives you great bang for your buck? It’s no wonder businesses across all industries use it as a leading marketing platform.

A little stuck on where to start? Below are some tips you can use to craft or amp up your social media strategy.

KNOW YOUR AUDIENCE.

You should be a bit familiar with your audience that is drawn to your social media pages. If not, ask yourself a few key questions:

  • Where do they live?
  • Are they married, single, have kids?
  • What is the average income level?
  • How frequently do they partake in the services you offer?
  • What is their age and gender?

Knowing the answers to these questions will help you quickly assess your audience and then you can take that information to ensure you are posting relative content. You want to make sure what you are posting is enticing and interesting to those who are seeing it. Make your posts something that they feel compelled to act on.

KNOW WHAT APPEALS TO YOUR AUDIENCE.

Always keep in mind the tone of your business. Is your salon fun, youthful, and high energy? Keep your posts and images in line. Is your salon more of a laid back, classic glam type? Post pictures that convey that “old time glam” feel. You want to make sure that what you post makes your audience respond to you in a positive way. Keep everything within the tone and image you have set for your business. Always ask yourself if you think what you are about to post would be of some value to your clients. If it isn’t, scrap the idea and come up with a new thing to post.

View your social media pages

VIEW YOUR SOCIAL MEDIA PAGES LIKE THEY ARE YOUR WEBSITE.

Anytime someone pops onto one of your social media pages, they should be able to have all of the information that they need to contact you and find out what you sell/offer. Utilize all the great features these social media platforms have to offer to display your products, pricing, service list, location, hours, contact information, etc.

HERE ARE SOME IDEAS OF THINGS YOU COULD POST STARTING TODAY!

  • An easy way to increase engagement is by asking simple questions to your audience or by conducting a poll that requires little reading and fast responses. People will read your post because it will be a fast read and then will most likely give you a response they like to give their opinion. People like to feel heard. Ask a simple question like, “What color are you eager to dye your hair this spring?” You will elicit responses and when you do, make sure to give some type of feedback to those who responded. A business that interacts with their audience is one that people feel compelled to interact with. Make sure your questions/polls are conversation starters, are in line with your business, and are things that your audience will find of interest.
  • Offer giveaways and discounts just for people who like or subscribe to your social media page. Make sure you include special discount codes that are available only to those who are on your page. Another way to do this is to post on social media that you are running a special to those who sign up for your email list. This directs them to a landing page where they will provide you with their contact information and in turn they receive a discount code or an entry into your giveaway. The reason this option is so great is because should something happen to your social media accounts, you still have a way to reach out to those who were interested in what you had to offer. Once someone wins your giveaway, with the winner’s permission, announce who won on your page or post a picture of the winner with the prize.
  • Pictures!!! Pictures and videos are golden on social media! There’s no better industry to post pictures than the beauty industry. With salons, before and after pictures are priceless. It allows stylists to showcase their talents and allows prospective clients to see what they can do. Makeup artists and skin care experts can also showcase their talents via pictures. It’s a wonderful, easy thing to post that is sure to draw attention.

Utilize targeted ads on Facebook

UTILIZE TARGETED ADS ON FACEBOOK.

Facebook offers the amazing ability to target the ads you run on their site. You can target who sees your ads based on a huge variety of criterion, so use this to your advantage. Choosing to have an ad seen only to those who are located near your salon, those who have previously interacted with your page, or only to those who like Facebook pages related to yours gives you a more concentrated audience and allows only those who are truly interested to see your ad, therefore giving you more value for your money.
