KEEPING YOUR SKIN SOFT AND HYDRATED THIS WINTER

KEEPING YOUR SKIN SOFT AND HYDRATED THIS WINTER

Don’t think all hope is lost because you can control how much damage this harsh weather does to your beautiful skin by implementing a few easy tips! Let’s wave bye to dry skin and say hello to healthy, glowing, soft skin this winter.

DITCH THE CHEMICALS.

When you are choosing soaps, lotions, and other potions, make sure you avoid the ones that are loaded with chemicals. Even if something claims to be moisturizing, the chemicals in the product can actually deplete the skin of vital moisture. Try to choose skin care products that are natural and contain fewer chemicals.

KEEP IT COOL.

Hey, we get it. A hot shower or warm bubble bath can be heavenly but it’s also really damaging to your skin. The hotter the water, the more oils are being removed from your skin. These natural oils are an important part of keeping your skin hydrated. Still take those relaxing showers and soak in the bath, but reduce the time and try to reduce the water temperature. Your skin will thank you!

EXFOLIATE.

One of the best things you can buy for the shower are a pair of exfoliating gloves. They are excellent at removing dead skin and let’s face it, if you have a bunch of dead skin it’s almost impossible for lotion to break through and work on the skin underneath. Once or twice per week, put the gloves on while in the shower, add some gently exfoliating body scrub and massage that dead skin away.

DRINK UP.

You’ve heard the speech by now…your body functions at it’s prime when it’s well hydrated and that means getting at least 8 glasses of water in a day. When the weather is cold, we’re more likely to turn to a cup of tea, coffee, or hot cocoa to warm up, but make sure you are getting in your daily amount of water. Staying hydrated can help you avoid things like cracked skin and dryness.
