BE SMART ON SOCIAL MEDIA

Are you SMART with your social media posts? You may have heard that acronym before but if not, here’s what it stands for:

Specific

Measurable

Attainable

Relevant

Timely

Specific

This has to do with answering the 4 W’s: who, what, where, when and why as it relates to your goals. Who is responsible? What are you hoping to accomplish and what is its purpose? When will it happen? Where is it happening? Why is this goal important?

Measurable

Solid goals should be measurable. You should be able to track its progress so you know when your goal is reached. Being able to measure your goal is vital because it allows you to see if you are moving in the right direction.

Attainable

When you set your goals too high, they are out of reach and unattainable. You will end up frustrated because you have set yourself up for failure. On the other hand, be cautious not to set them too low or you won’t be challenged.

Relevant

Social media is most definitely a marketing tool so make sure your goals support your business’s overall goals and objectives.

Timely

Set deadlines for your goals. This keeps you on track and accountable. Depending on the goal, you may want to set them weekly, monthly, quarterly, or yearly.
